Beyond Oat Beta-glucan!
To maintain a healthy heart, brown rice and oats are important whole grains that are proven to be of great benefits. They are suitable for everyone including children.
Through different mechanism of actions, Oat beta-glucan works effectively against bad cholesterol, while Brown Rice is able to provide the heart with phytonutrients which helps to reduce the risk of heart disease. For a perfect heart health, Oat beta-glucan and brown rice are the best partners you need in a single formula.
Why we choose brown rice?
Brown rice served as a food that helps increase whole grain consumption and delivers many health and nutrition benefits. Researchers also discovered that the subaleurone layer in brown rice (between the white and brown layers) contains a substance which is important to heart health. This substance counteracts a protein (Angiotensin II) that causes blood vessels to constrict, which pushes up blood pressure and makes it easier for plaque and clots to form.
Brown rice and angiotensin II
Angiotensin II is an endocrine protein and a known culprit in the development of high blood pressure and atherosclerosis. According to research carried out by Satoru Eguchi, an associate professor of physiology, a component in a layer of tissue surrounding grains of brown rice may work against angiotensin II. During their analysis, the team found that subaleurone components that were selected by an ethyl acetate extraction inhibited angiotensin II activity in the cultured vascular smooth muscle cells. This suggests that the subaleurone layer of rice offers protection against high blood pressure and atherosclerosis.
